Rebecca Gayheart is remembering Eric Dane by sharing a series of heartfelt throwback photos of the actor with their two daughters following his death.
Gayheart, 54, posted the collection of candid photos on her Instagram Stories on Saturday, Feb. 21. Dane can be seen smiling with their two girls — Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13 — celebrating birthdays and holidays, and sharing happy moments as a family of four.

Gayheart also reshared throwback posts from a number of friends and loved ones paying tribute to the late actor.
Dane died on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the age of 53, 10 months after publicly announcing his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, diagnosis.

Dane spent "his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world," his family said in a statement.
Dane met Gayheart in 2003, and the pair wed less than a year later in Las Vegas. They separated in 2018, but Gayheart was a key caregiver for the Euphoria star amid his ALS journey.
In an essay for The Cut published in December 2025, the actress said she had taken charge of Dane’s medical care, which had been divided into 21 shifts.

“There are times that shifts aren’t covered, so I cover them. There was a 12-hour shift recently that I could not cover. I could only do four hours because of all the stuff that the kids are doing,” she explained.

In a November 2025 appearance on the Broad Ideas podcast, Gayheart said she made sure her daughters understood that "we show up for people no matter what" as their dad's ALS progressed.

"He is our family. He is your father," Gayheart said she told Billie and Georgia. "We show up, and we try to do it with some dignity and some grace and just get through it."
A number of the late actor’s friends and former colleagues have expressed their sadness over his death — as well as honored his memory.
Patrick Dempsey, who starred alongside Dane on the hit ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, spoke candidly about how he wants to remember his late costar during an appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Friday, Feb. 20.

"I feel really so sad for his children," Dempsey, 60, said. "I was corresponding with him, we were texting, so I spoke to him about a week ago, and some friends of ours went in to see him, and he was really starting to lose his ability to speak."
"He was the funniest man — he was such a joy to work with, and I want to just remember him in that spirit because any time he was on set, he brought so much fun to it,” he added.
"There was just this wonderful mutual respect," he said of their connection.
Kate Walsh, who also starred in Grey's Anatomy, shared her thoughts in an Instagram post on Friday.
"I’m at a loss for words to try to express the sadness around Eric’s passing," Walsh, 58, wrote. "First and foremost I am thinking of his girls and Rebecca and holding them in my prayers and my heart.”

Walsh noted that she "loved" Dane's "sensitivity and vulnerability (and intelligence, of course)," and reminisced about how the two actors supported each other in the early days of making the long-running series.
"As with most network tv shows, we spent more time with each other than with anyone else and so we became a family of sorts and Eric was such a source of support and love," she wrote.
